Aktor PH – the League of Filipino Actors – has officially taken a stand against the "crude" and "malicious" language used toward one of its prominent members, Anne Curtis, during a recent formal public proceeding.

In a statement released during National Women's Month, the organization expressed its outrage over remarks made by Bong Suntay during a congressional hearing. Aktor PH found it "deeply inappropriate and unacceptable" that a member of the creative community was invoked in a derogatory and s*xualized manner.

"Regardless of what point anyone may be trying to make, and even more so when coming from a public official, there is no justification for language that objectifies or degrades a woman," the organization stated firmly.

The league emphasized that those entrusted with public office carry a heavy responsibility to uphold the highest standards of conduct. They asserted that respect for women is not an optional trait but is "the minimum standard of public service."

Aktor PH also took the opportunity to address the broader issue of misogyny in society. They noted that such remarks not only diminish the individual but also undermine the dignity and respect that every person deserves.

"As an organization whose principles are based on equality, empathy and mutual respect, we will not tolerate any malicious statements made against any of our members, whether in jest or in passing," the group added.

Other celebrities including Angel Locsin, Jodi Sta. Maria, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith have also slammed the remarks.

Anne Curtis-Smith is a Filipino-Australian actress and TV host. She became known for her roles in television dramas such as Hiram, Maging Sino Ka Man, and Dyosa. Since 2009, she has been one of the main hosts of ABS-CBN's noontime variety show It's Showtime. Her younger sister, Jasmine, is also an actress. In her personal life, Anne married Erwan Heussaff. In 2020, they welcomed their first child, Dahlia Amélie.

As previously reported by KAMI, Anne Curtis revealed her flight to Dubai was rerouted to Milan due to airstrikes in the Middle East. All flights to the Middle East were reportedly grounded while she was in the air. However, her daughter, Dahlia Amélie, and husband, Erwan Heussaff, are currently in Dubai. Erwan also shared a "wild" update of watching news of the strikes while in UAE airspace.

Meanwhile, Anne Curtis remembered her late father James Ernest Curtis-Smith on what would have been his birthday just a month after his passing. The actress shared photos and a heartfelt message imagining how he might be celebrated in heaven. Her post reflected her deep grief and enduring love for the family patriarch. Anne earlier described his death as an unexpected yet peaceful loss.
