The controversy began when Suntay, during the hearing, narrated a personal encounter with Anne Curtis at a hotel.
His remarks were met with criticism from several members of the House committee on justice, who questioned the appropriateness of his statements during a formal proceeding.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also weighed in, urging the congressman to take responsibility.
“We call on Congressman Suntay to take full accountability for his remarks, issue a proper apology, and conduct himself with the dignity that his office—and our city—demand. Our people deserve no less,” said Belmonte.
As of writing, Suntay has yet to issue a public apology.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with many netizens calling for accountability and professionalism from public officials, especially during official government proceedings.
