Ashley Ortega, the 24-year-old actress known for her roles in GMA projects like Apoy sa Dugo, shared that past misunderstandings caused emotional distance, and that reconnecting with her mother has been a gradual process.

Ashley reflected on a period of three years during which communication with her mother was strained, explaining that she left home without saying goodbye, a decision she now regrets.
“Sometimes kasi kapag nagiging toxic na 'yung environment, naaapektuhan na talaga ikaw mentally, and that's what happened to me,” she explained.
She emphasized that her departure was not meant to hurt her mother but rather to give herself space.

Since leaving the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition house, Ashley has made it a priority to reach out to her mother.
“The moment pa lang na na-evict ako, that's the first thing I did… Talagang nag-reach out ako, but again, hindi rin talaga naging madali 'yung nangyari sa kanya, so I have to step back muna para lang din hindi ma-trigger ulit,” she shared.
Despite her efforts, Ashley acknowledged that full reconciliation remains a work in progress.
The actress admitted that being apart from her mother during special occasions such as Christmas and her birthday has been painful.
“Of course, it's still painful, but everyday naman, I still pray na things will be better for her,” she said.
Ashley also shared the lessons she has learned through this process.
“The blood is thicker than water, no matter what will happen. Isa lang 'yung nanay ko, and that will always be my mom,” she added.
