The legal battle surrounding one of the country’s most prominent beauty queens has intensified as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officially issued a subpoena to Michelle Dee.

The summons is part of an ongoing probe into allegations of physical injuries and illegal detention filed by a former employee, a case that has gripped public attention since late January.
The complaint was lodged by a man identified as "Totoy," who previously served as a personal driver for Rhian, a close friend of Michelle.
According to the driver's statement, he was allegedly detained and physically mistreated by Michelle, Rhian Ramos, and their friend Samantha inside a condominium unit in Makati.

The accuser claims the altercation was triggered by suspicions that he had taken a red envelope belonging to Michelle, which purportedly contained sensitive personal photographs.
In a statement released on Thursday, February 26, 2026, Michelle’s legal counsel, Atty. Maggie, confirmed that their office has received the NBI's order.
The lawyer explained that they had proactively requested that all official notices be sent directly to their firm to ensure a streamlined legal process.
"We will comply with the subpoena and will assess whatever evidence the NBI has gathered," the attorney stated, adding that Michelle is prepared to submit a counter-affidavit to clear her name.
While the NBI conducts its fact-finding mission, a separate legal track is moving forward in the Makati Prosecutor’s Office.
Michelle has filed a complaint for qualified theft, libel, and perjury against the driver. Her legal team argues that the driver’s accusations are a retaliatory fabrication designed to deflect from his own alleged wrongdoing.
They have presented evidence, including travel documents, suggesting that Michelle was actually in Iloilo attending a pageant during a significant portion of the time the alleged detention took place.
As the March 3 deadline for the driver’s counter-affidavit in the theft case approaches, the NBI continues to verify CCTV footage and medical reports.
Both sides have expressed a desire for the truth to emerge, with Michelle’s camp urging the public to avoid pre-judging the celebrities involved.
For now, various media outlets remain focused on whether these subpoenas will lead to formal criminal charges or if the evidence will support the defense's claim of a strategic smear campaign.
Michelle Dee is a distinguished Filipina actress and model, continuing the legacy of her mother, Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez. Beyond these placements, she earned several special accolades in El Salvador, cementing her status as a premier Philippine representative.
It can be recalled that Michelle also personally visited the NBI headquarters to initiate a case involving cybercrime. While initially maintaining privacy regarding the specific details of her visit, it was later confirmed that the complaint targets influencer Xian. The beauty queen met with specialized cybercrime agents to provide her testimony, opting to wait until after the official briefing to speak with the press. This move marks a definitive and formal step in holding individuals accountable for their online behavior and protecting the integrity of the star’s digital presence.
Recently, Michelle sparked joy and online chatter by posting a holiday-themed photo featuring a traditional red envelope while celebrating the Lunar New Year. The post, which included a warm greeting to her followers, prompted a playful response from her close friend Rhian and caught the attention of several corporate partners. Beyond the festivities, the actress is taking a stand against online misinformation by pursuing a formal cyberlibel case against a specific internet personality. These legal efforts remain a dominant subject in the entertainment industry as Michelle seeks to protect her reputation from false narratives circulating on social media.
