During the Ultimate Tapatan, Joaquin was asked by ex-housemate Anton Vinzon if he was voted into the top spots simply because his family had the means to support him. Joaquin responded by revealing a private conversation he had with his relatives before the show started.

"Well, sinabi ko sa pamilya ko before coming in here not to spend," the Star Magic artist clarified.

The young actor further explained that his primary motivation for joining the industry is a personal passion for the craft.

"I believe that whatever I get, I should deserve everything that I want to achieve in this industry as an actor because it's my dream to be an actor," Joaquin asserted.

He maintained that he wants to be recognized for his hard work rather than his surname, noting that the validation should come from the "Taong Bahay" and not from his family's pockets.

He concluded by saying that working with a superstar like Locsin is a "prize" that he must work hard to earn, rather than a privilege he should just be given.
