Mariel’s mother passed away suddenly in December 2023, leaving the celebrity with a burden of regret that she admits she cannot fix. During the emotional conversation, Mariel described her feelings as a heavy weight.

“When I think of my Mom... ‘Yun talaga Julius, ‘yun ang cross that I will bear for the rest of my life,” Mariel shared.

The celebrity admitted that she wasn’t always the best daughter and that their relationship was often turbulent. Because she grew up under the care of her maternal grandparents, she found it difficult to understand the dynamics between her and the woman who gave birth to her. “No, hindi. In fact ‘yung time na (hindi sila okay), seasonal ang galit ng mom ko. Nu’ng time na namatay siya, ako ‘yung…it was my season like my pictures were down in her house. She took my pictures down yeah ‘yung ganu’n, season ko,” she recalled.

Because of this unresolved history, Mariel admitted she is afraid of what the future holds for her own family. Now a dedicated mother to her daughters, Isabella and Gabriella, she worries that the cycle might repeat itself.

“I hope that she forgives me and ‘yun ‘yung dasal ko and then kinakatakukan ko na kasi naniniwala ako sa karma eh. Hindi sana ako karmahin one day, ‘yung mga kids ko sana hindi kami magkaroon ng ganu’n relationship kasi hindi kami ganu’n always (magkasundo) ng mom ko,” she explained.
