Speaking ahead of the February 2 premiere of his gritty new action-drama Never Say Die, the actor-entrepreneur shared how personal setbacks have become his greatest motivation.

Licauco, who plays investigative journalist Andrew Dizon in the upcoming series, attributes his "go-getter" attitude to early disappointments.

He recalled a pivotal moment in the 5th grade when he failed to make his school's basketball team.

Rather than discouraging him, the rejection fueled a months-long training regimen that eventually landed him a spot in the starting five the following year.

"Failure excites me because it's where you learn," Licauco told 24 Oras reporter Nelson Canlas. "You might not reach perfection immediately, but every mistake brings you one step closer to excellence. In my opinion, failure is exactly where success begins."

This fearless mindset extends beyond the camera. Licauco is currently in the design phase of a new luxury villa project in Siargao, a venture he plans to oversee personally.

Known for his hands-on approach to business, which already includes successful restaurants like Sobra Cafe and Kuya Korea, the actor intends to dive into construction immediately after wrapping up his current television commitments.

Further showcasing his discipline, Licauco is preparing for a global indoor fitness competition scheduled for February 28 in Taiwan.

To maintain his "hybrid workout" routine, the actor often trains twice a day, squeezing in sessions before taping and dinner.

"If you truly want something, you will find a way to make it happen," he emphasized.

The actor also spoke warmly about his Never Say Die co-stars, admitting he was pleasantly surprised by the group's chemistry.

Licauco praised Jillian Ward not just for her acting, but for her sharp business acumen, noting that the "Star of the New Gen" often offers him savvy entrepreneurial advice.
