Marcelito explained that his original plan was to return home after Christmas, as his performance schedule was initially limited to the holiday season.

However, circumstances changed when his management at BRICS Entertainment extended an invitation for him to perform during the New Year festivities.

The unexpected opportunity placed him on an international stage once again.

The singer also credited his wife for convincing him to stay longer and take the chance.

“Kasi actually gusto ko nang umuwi ng New Year eh. ‘Yung wife ko ang nagtulak na, ‘Huwag ka nang kumuha ng ticket. Idiretso mo na ‘yan,’” says Marcelito.

That decision ultimately led to his memorable encounter with the U.S. president.

Marcelito is best known as the champion of"Pilipinas Got Talent" Season 2 and for representing the Philippines on "America’s Got Talent: The Champions."

A couple of years ago, Marcelito touched the hearts of many by sharing a nostalgic video featuring a spirited performance alongside his close friend, the late Jovit Baldivino. The clip captures a lighthearted moment where Marcelito belts out a unique rendition of "Buwan," while Jovit is seen in the background, unable to contain his laughter at his friend's antics. In his emotional caption, Marcelito reflected on the event, labeling it as one of the most significant and "unforgettable" highlights of their shared career journey. The viral post serves as a moving reminder of the genuine brotherhood the two Pilipinas Got Talent champions shared behind the scenes, far away from the competition of the spotlight.

Around the same time, as Jovit was laid to his eternal rest on December 14, his longtime companion Marcelito dedicated a final, solemn message to the fallen singer. With a heavy heart, Marcelito publicly asked for his friend's forgiveness, expressing his deep regret for being unable to attend the funeral services in person. The tribute follows the collective shock that gripped the local entertainment community after Jovit’s sudden passing, which left many of his peers in disbelief. Despite his physical absence from the burial, Marcelito continues to keep Jovit’s memory alive through consistent tributes, ensuring that the first PGT winner's impact is never forgotten.
