Chariz Solomon looks back on StarStruck journey that led her to comedy stardom

Chariz Solomon fondly revisited her early showbiz journey, recalling how joining "StarStruck" Season 4 became the turning point of her career.

In an interview on “I-Listen with Kara David,” the actress reflected on how the reality talent search unexpectedly opened doors for her in the entertainment industry.

Chariz admitted she was initially reluctant to audition because she feared public embarrassment in front of her classmates and friends.

“Ayoko talaga. Kasi ayoko 'yung mapapahiya ako, matatanggal ako, tapos mapapanood ng mga kaklase ko, 'yung mga kaibigan ko.”

Her mindset changed after encouragement from her then-talent manager John Fontanilla.

Despite arriving on the final day of auditions without prepared material, Chariz pushed through and relied on instinct.

“Wala akong material, so kumanta lang ako acapella, nagsayaw ako kahit anong tugtog [ipasayaw] nila. Natanggap ako.”

She later became part of a batch that included Aljur Abrenica, Kris Bernal, Mart Escudero, and Jewel Mische.

During the early stages of her career, Chariz was unexpectedly noticed for her looks after wearing a fitted white shirt.

“‘Yung t-shirt, kailangan naka white t-shirt. Wala akong white t-shirt.”

That moment led to her being branded as a sexy star, something she later laughed about.

“Kaya pinackage (package) tuloy ako as sexy star. Malaking pagkakamali.”

Her career took a crucial turn when director Rommel Gacho invited her to join comedy segments on "Startalk."

“May segment doon, ‘yung ‘Da Who?’”

The director eventually recognized her strength in comedy and told her.

“‘Nakakatawa siya. Hindi pala siya sexy star.’”

This realization paved the way for Chariz to join *Bubble Gang*, where she found her true niche and built a lasting career in comedy.
