"Hopefully, makapag-start na kami mag-build ng family, if God permits. ‘Yun ang focus bilang, of course, the clock is ticking din. Magpo-40 na ako this year," Carla shared. "Let's say, hirap man kami na mag-conceive naturally, at least merong ganu’ng backup, merong ganu’ng option."
This transparency about her fertility journey has resonated with many women who face similar pressures regarding age and family planning.
The couple’s union on December 27, 2025, in Alfonso, Cavite, was a celebration of a love story two decades in the making. Dr. Reginald Santos was Carla’s high school "first love" at O.B. Montessori.
After over 20 years apart—during which both experienced long-term relationships and Carla navigated a high-profile marriage and divorce—the two reconnected during the 2023 holiday season.
Unlike her previous wedding, which was a star-studded affair, Carla’s marriage to Reginald was intentionally intimate.
"Parang high na high ka pa from the wedding. Andoon pa rin 'yung excitement, 'yung adrenaline. Kinasal na ako before, very showbiz 'yung wedding. ‘Di ba lahat naman ng katrabaho, ng kaibigan, ka-close sa showbiz. Parang kabaliktaran. Kasi unang-una gusto namin intimate 'yung wedding and very private lang siya. And pangalawa, dahil siya e, very private din na tao. Very ano siya, very as in non-showbiz," the actress explained.
Currently, the newlyweds are preparing for a romantic honeymoon in Europe, a well-deserved break before they buckle down on their family goals.
Carla described her husband, a Chief Medical Officer at a private hospital, as her "calm and peaceful" partner, noting that their rekindled romance feels more secure and mature.
As she enters 2026, Carla appears more grounded than ever, balancing her career in show business with a renewed focus on her personal life and the hopeful arrival of a new family member.
Carla Abellana is a prominent GMA Network artist celebrated for her lead roles in Rosalinda and My Husband's Lover. Born into a legacy of entertainers, including father Rey "PJ" Abellana, she has evolved from a commercial model into a versatile dramatic actress. Now married to Dr. Reginald Santos, Carla continues to inspire fans with her transparency regarding personal growth and healing.
Recently, the actress also revealed that her connection with Dr. Reginald Santos dates back to their teenage years at O.B. Montessori, where he served as her first romantic partner and foundational "first love." The actress reflected on their initial split with admiration, noting that Reginald made the difficult, selfless choice to end their relationship to focus entirely on the rigorous demands of medical school. Following decades without contact, the pair reconnected via social media during a period when Carla was admittedly cautious and struggling to dismantle the emotional defenses she had built over the years. Upon finally reuniting in person to receive medicine while she was ill, Carla felt an immediate sense of high-school-level comfort, proving that their long-standing bond remained intact despite the passage of time.
In previous interviews with Jessica Soho and Boy Abunda, Carla displayed her healing journey by playfully joking about her first marriage’s seven-week duration, viewing it now with a sense of humor rather than bitterness. While admitting that memories of her short-lived first union can still be poignant, the actress shared that she has reached a level of emotional maturity where she can discuss the fallout with complete transparency. As her former partner, Tom Rodriguez, has embraced a new life abroad with a different spouse and a young son, Carla expressed a mutual desire for everyone involved to find their own version of happiness. Since her intimate December 2025 wedding to Dr. Reginald Santos, Carla has entered what she describes as her most peaceful era yet, eager to experience the joys of a healthy, long-term marital partnership.
