Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro recently faced public backlash, including pointed comments from celebrities like Aga Muhlach and Arci Muñoz, after she appeared to make a lighthearted reaction to the controversial statement from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regarding a ₱500 budget for Noche Buena essentials.

The controversy stems from a new video of Claire, during a press briefing at the Malacañang, laughingly suggested that a family could purchase a small ham for just ₱500 for their Noche Buena celebration.
Following this news, the video post quickly caught the attention of prominent industry figures who challenged the reaction of the undersecretary in the comment section of Instagram user @queenchivsss.
Veteran actor Aga Muhlach was among the most direct in his rebuke, questioning the authenticity and seriousness of her reaction: "Totoo ba 'to??? Natatawa ka?? Seriously?" he commented, expressing surprise and disappointment.
