Actor Zanjoe Marudo shared touching details about his decades-long, platonic friendship with actress Angelica Panganiban in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News. Marudo spoke about their strong, non-romantic bond and highlighted Panganiban's unwavering support for his wife and fellow mother, Ria Atayde.

Zanjoe, who has worked with Angelica multiple times, explained why they never crossed the line into a romantic relationship, despite being prominent fixtures in the same industry.
"Nung time na gumagawa kami ng Playhouse, dun talaga kami mas naging super close. Close na kami talaga. Siguro gusto naman talaga namin yung isa't isa bilang tao. Kumportable na kami sa isa't isa," Zanjoe recalled.
He emphasized that their strong foundation as friends created a comfortable space for honest professional and personal interaction between the two of them.

"And wala naman kaming kumbaga, inhibitions pagdating sa pag-arte, pagdating sa off-cam, on-cam, kasi gusto namin kasama ang isa't isa eh. Barkada talaga kami," he added.
Aside from this, Zanjoe also highlighted Angelica's consistent support for his wife, Ria Atayde, especially now that Ria is navigating motherhood too with their baby.
"Hindi kami nawalan ng contact. Lagi siyang nandiyan naka-suport [kay] Ria, pag may kailangan si Ria, kasi mas nauna siyang naging mommy. And then ako rin, minsan mini-message ko siya, mini-message niya ako ng mga advice kung paano na i-handle yung ganitong age," Zanjoe revealed.
This exchange of advice on parenting confirms the deep level of trust and genuine connection among the three, ensuring Angelica remains a supportive presence.
Zanjoe eventually oncluded by expressing the rarity of having such a strong relationship in the industry and promising his lifelong commitment to their bond:
"Alam mong aabot kami hanggang pagtanda namin. Andiyan kami para sa isa't isa. At mahirap makahanap ng ganung tao. Mahirap makahanap ng ganung kaibigan. Kaya grateful and thankful ako na na-meet ko si Angelica at hanggang ngayon magkasama kami sa 20 years ko sa industriya," he admitted.
