The conversation quickly turned serious when Aira Bermudez was asked about incidents of fans attempting to cross the line.

“Oh, yes, we have many stories about that,” Aira admitted, referring to male fans who tried to inappropriately touch their bodies during public appearances.

Jopay Paguia’s response was even more direct, recalling their aggressive defense mechanism: “Oh yes, we hit them,” she admitted with a knowing laugh, underscoring the necessity of physical defense in their environment.

Jopay explained that the group adopted specific defensive formations, particularly during chaotic events like campaign sorties where the crowds were dense and security was often strained.

They were meticulously instructed on how to cover their vulnerable areas when navigating through a crowd.

“I remember back then, we were going up [to the bus], because this was during campaigns. We had a bus, the entire S3xbomb group. Then, of course, outside, the people were there, and they would really try to grab us. So, [we were told] ‘Girls, when you walk, hand over the front (chest), this one (left hand) below (private area).’ That’s how we always walked,” Jopay shared, illustrating the systematic effort required to protect their modesty.

Despite these efforts, one incident proved that the defense was not foolproof. A group member was groped while making their way to the bus.

Once safely inside, the victim broke down in tears and pointed out the perpetrator to their assistants.

“‘Bring him up,’ we requested of the people assisting us,” Jopay recounted. Once the perpetrator was inside the bus, the situation escalated.
“When he got inside, ‘Bang!’ We really ganged up on him inside,” Jopay confessed, immediately following up with a quick "Sorry," acknowledging the raw nature of their collective retaliation.

Aira seconded this fierce group loyalty, stating, “It didn't just happen once. If someone repeated it, we would really grab them.”

Jopay shared another disturbing incident that occurred during a show in the province, where the stage lights kept flickering off.

Due to safety concerns, they decided to cut their performance short and leave, walking out in the rain.

As they walked, one member suddenly screamed, “No, no, no!” When the light momentarily flashed back on, they saw their group mate being grabbed by a drunken elderly man. True to their word, the man also received a taste of the dancers’ unified "resbak" (retaliation).

Aira Bermudez concluded by reflecting on the inherent risk of their profession: “Sometimes, they really become wild.”

The group’s painful yet determined stories highlight the dark side of fame and the necessity for women in the entertainment industry to protect themselves when institutions fail to do so.

The S3xbomb legacy, marked by both dazzling performances and fierce self-defense, prepares for its much-awaited reunion concert, with tickets for the initial December 4 show at the Smart Araneta Coliseum already sold out, prompting hints of a possible second day from Rochelle Pangilinan.

Jopay Paguia is a Filipina singer, dancer and actress. She is also a member of Sexbomb Singers, together with Rochelle Pangilinan. She is also a cousin of singer-actress Nadine Lustre.

During the same interview, the S3xbomb duo criticized the common misconception that all dancers are "wild" or promiscuous. Jopay shared that older people often associated dancers with harsh labels, forcing them to defend their character. Aira revealed she started dancing young to feed her family, not for "flirting," and even brought her mother to contests. The dancers noted that the judgment eased significantly after they achieved massive success and fame as S3xbomb.
