While mobilizing material aid, Etrata also delivered a heartfelt message of prayer and resilience, urging her fellow Cebuanos to remain strong and never give up amidst the widespread devastation.
In a public address following the tremor, Etrata, who grew up near Bantayan Island—an area close to the quake’s epicenter in Bogo City and one of the hardest-hit regions, including San Remigio—extended her deepest sympathies.
"Sa mga taga-Cebu diyan, sa mga taga-San Remigio, patuloy lang po sa panalangin, ‘wag mag-give up," the Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre cast member pleaded, her voice filled with emotion. "‘Yung mga nasalanta sa mga nakakaranas ng hirap o nahihirapan, ipagdadasal ko kayo para mas maging strong pa kayo at ‘di mag-give up."
The Kapuso artist confirmed that relief efforts from her end were already underway. "May mga ipinadala na po kaming tulong para sa inyo ha, together, ‘di tayo susuko. Kaya natin lahat ito," she added, emphasizing a message of unity and collaborative recovery.
In addition to dispatching assistance, Etrata utilized her social media platform to amplify the needs of the affected areas, sharing an urgent public call for medical volunteers to augment the manpower, particularly in the northern part of Cebu where casualties are high and infrastructure damage is extensive.
She also reassured the public that her own family residing in the province was safe following the harrowing event.
Etrata’s proactive response to the disaster aligns with her recent dedication to community service and readiness.
Just as the earthquake struck, the actress marked a significant career milestone by signing a Memorandum of Agreement as the first female ambassador of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP).
She expressed her joy and honor at the appointment and is looking forward to promoting the core values of the scouting movement, particularly volunteerism and the mantra of Laging Handa (Always Ready).
