Janella Salvador, an actress, recently got candid about the painful and difficult process behind her 2022 separation from fellow actor Markus Paterson, with whom she shares a son, Jude.

Appearing as a guest on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, she shared a look into the reasons for their split and the effort they both put in to make the separation as amicable as possible for their child.

When asked about the details of the breakup, Janella was very careful not to reveal too much, emphasizing her desire to protect others involved. However, she was frank about one of the main issues, acknowledging that Markus had admitted to his own shortcomings back in the past.

The Kapamilya actress revealed that while they are on good terms now, there was a time when cohabiting became impossible for the former couple. She explained that their separation stemmed from a realization that they could no longer live under the same roof, in one house together.

"Ngayon, okay naman na kami. It's just that, during that time parang we realized na hindi namin kayang tumira sa isang bahay together," she shared, with her honesty being praised online.

Janella stressed that the decision to end their relationship was far from impulsive, especially because of their child. The well-being of their son, Jude, was the ultimate deciding factor.

"Yes, we talked a lot. It was not an easy decision. Maraming maraming beses, kasi syempre there's a kid involved," she recounted. The actress admitted that she had initially tried to hold on, questioning if the relationship could still be saved, but ultimately, it ended with them separating.

However, she came to the realization that her own state of mind was crucial to her role as a mother. "Ako rin naman, I was like, 'Baka kaya ko pa?' Sumubok naman pero kapag unhappy kasi, especially for moms, if a mom is unhappy, it will reflect on how you raise your child," she said.

Ultimately, they chose to prioritize creating a peaceful and healthy environment for Jude, even if it meant parting ways as a couple. Janella concluded by saying, "It wasn't an easy breakup, but there was a lot of effort to be understanding, to make sure na things will still be okay lalo na for Jude."
