Vargas recalled their first encounter in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, back in 2008. He was a popular actor at the time, invited by the late director Maryo J. Delos Reyes to perform at a local event.

"Rewind muna tayo sa backstage. Artista ako nun, mayroon ding ibang artista na nandoon tapos napansin ko parang mas maraming nagpapa-picture sa isang tao roon at siya [Yasmine Espiritu] 'yon," he shared.
He immediately felt a connection and was struck by her beauty. "Sabi ko, 'grabe ang ganda niya'. So, love at first sight talaga," Vargas admitted, his smile as genuine as his story.

In a sweet twist of fate, Yasmine revealed that she had also admired him from a distance before their meeting.

She confessed that she had a crush on him after watching him in a television show.

Yasmine told a story that made both Alfred and host Boy Abunda emotional: "Naalala ko pa noon nasa sala kami kasi 'di ba noon kapag nanonood ng afternoon drama, nakita ko siya [Alfred Vargas]. Sabi ko kay Lola, 'Sino 'yan?' Sabi niya, 'si Alfred Vargas.'"

It can be recalled that Solis passed away on July 3 at the age of 78 after her long battle with kidney disease.
