Former beauty queen and actress Alma Concepcion did not let bashers pass after she defended the Atayde family against accusations online.
The controversy started when contractor Curlee Discaya linked actor and Quezon City Rep. Arjo Atayde to alleged kickbacks in the DPWH flood control project scandal.
Arjo denied the claims and said he never benefited from any contractor.
His wife Maine Mendoza also defended him in a Facebook post, stressing their properties were not bought with public money.

Even Sylvia Sanchez, Arjo’s mother, was dragged into the issue after netizens pointed to their family’s beach resort, yacht, and rest houses.
Alma stepped in and shared receipts, including an old 2021 post showing Sylvia’s yacht.
She said these properties existed before Arjo was elected in 2022, and asked netizens to check the timeline before making accusations.
When some bashers attacked Alma, one said she was only being helped by the Ataydes and another called her “laos.”
Alma fought back, saying at least she became famous, saved money, and helped her siblings.
She reminded her critics that all stars fade eventually, but what matters is she maximized her career, invested wisely, and still works in acting on the side.
Alma challenged bashers to reflect on their own lives before judging others. For Alma, her legacy is clear: she made her fame count and stood up for the people close to her.

Alma Concepcion is a Filipina veteran actress and former beauty queen. She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas International in 1994, which gave her the chance to represent the Philippines in the Miss International pageant that same year. After her pageant stint, she entered showbiz and became known for her roles in movies and television, often playing strong or dramatic characters. Aside from acting, she has also worked as a host and public figure. In later years, Alma became active in social causes, particularly those related to children and women’s welfare.
In a previous report by KAMI, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) will investigate around 40 luxury cars linked to Sarah Discaya’s family. The move came after a viral interview where Discaya showed their collection of high-end cars. BOC will check the consignee of the vehicles to see if there were violations in their importation Discaya has also been connected to contractors of flood control projects now under Senate investigation.
Additionally, Korina Sanchez-Roxas recently posted on her Instagram account. There, she posed in front of a beautiful palace while she was in Disneyland. However, she also made fun of it in relation to the recent issue involving her. She wrote in the first part of her post, "My P10 Million Palace," which was somehow related to the allegations thrown against her by Mayor Vico Sotto.
