In a TikTok video posted by @bajeekaryllee, Karylle recalled coming across a Facebook post by retired journalist Chelo Banal-Formoso, whose take on the issue she found worth agreeing with.

"I just saw it on Facebook. It's a retired journalist who said this, her name is Chelo Banal-Formoso in the Facebook post so we still need to verify. 'Let's say that the Discaya piece was not a paid placement. They claim that this was a lifestyle feature,' okay, good, because that happens, I guess, diba? 'But the second that they saw the huge car garage, and those many super expensive cars, that lifestyle story should have instantly turned into an investigative story.' That has a point there. Not then and there pero siguro dapat may follow-up story," Karylle recalled in the viral video clip.

Did you really react so happily about this? Was that that impressive to you? Is this what matters in the world? But that goes again to what do we value in this world? Like, why do we value riches?" she asked.

Karylle also remarked on society's fascination with wealth, saying, "The flaunting is so 2025, that's what I keep saying. We like these things." At one point, she also pointed out that the public does play a role in the issue, since engagement and attention often fuel this kind of content. "We encourage it kaya ang tapang nila ipakita eh," Karylle added, with other netizens agreeing online.
