The budding star expressed his gratitude for Angel’s guidance, acknowledging her pivotal role in his burgeoning career in show business.
During a recent interview on the TFC show "Are You G?" with MJ Felipe, Joaquin candidly spoke about his close bond with Locsin.
The young actor, who recently signed with ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic, recounted a specific instance where Angel's impromptu coaching left a lasting impression.
"She's my mentor when it comes to acting. We are really close," he said. He recalled how Angel took on the role of director during one of his auditions, providing direct and invaluable advice.
"She actually directed one of my auditions before; like she's the one who told me, 'Oh you should do it like this. Okay pwesto ka diyan’."
The actor further detailed how Angel went beyond simple instructions, giving him a "masterclass" on the spot.
"She demonstrated how to say lines," he recounted, adding that Angel, with a simple snap of her fingers, instantly transformed into the character. "She just snaps her finger and she said the line of the character I was supposed to play out, and it's like, how did she do that? And that's also one of the moments na like, man I want to be like that. I want to be that good."
This moment solidified Joaquin’s ambition and his desire to hone his craft to a similar level of excellence.
Joaquin also shared a moment of surprise and pride when Angel publicly acknowledged him.
He was taken aback when he saw that his stepmother had posted about him signing with Star Magic on her Instagram Story.
“Actually hindi niya sinabi sa akin na magpo-post siya," he said. "Ako rin nagulat ako like nasa kotse ako, nagscro-scroll ako sa Instagram, biglang one minute ago nag-post si Tita Angel sa Story niya so binasa ko: 'Can't wait to work with you...'"

"I feel like I have to earn it. I have to work for it," he emphasized.

"It's my first time memorizing lines. It's my first time having kaeksena... And I love the process. I love correcting my mistakes, I love nailing scenes. I love the process of studying scripts... It wasn't just one moment. It was that entire workshop," he explained.
