Lani Misalucha, on why she did not go into acting: “Walang gustong kumuha sa akin”

Lani Misalucha recently revealed that if ever she were to venture into acting, she dreams of portraying a kontrabida.

“Kung meron mang mag-offer sa akin, gusto ko, kontrabida ako,” she quipped during the press conference for her upcoming anniversary concert, "Still Lani," held last Friday, July 18.
Known as Asia's Nightingale, Lani was asked why she never pursued acting, especially when many of her contemporaries also became actresses.
She responded with a laugh, “Simple lang ang sagot, walang gustong kumuha sa akin.”

Lani explained that during the height of her career in the early 2000s, her focus was divided between her music and raising her two daughters.
“Noong time na 'yun, 2000, 2001, nagkaroon ako ng very first major concert sa Araneta, 'yung talaga 'yung peak. Hindi pa ako ganun kakilala, pero napuno 'yung Araneta Coliseum," she recalled.
Balancing her busy schedule, she prioritized family over acting offers.
“Ang lilit pa lang ng mga anak ko noon kaya inisip ko na ayaw kong mag-artista, e, 'di walang lumapit sa akin! Totoo, kaya kung ano 'yung iniisip mo, 'yun ang mangyayari,” she added, followed by a playful remark, “Iniisip ko ang ganda-ganda ko na lang.”
Despite not venturing into acting, Lani is grateful for the opportunities to sing theme songs for films and TV series.
When asked who she would want to work with if given a kontrabida role, Lani envisioned a glamorous villain.
“Sino kaya ang makakatambalan ko na sasampalin ko? Si Aiai na lang, at least, kilalang-kilala niya ako.”
Currently, Lani shares the stage with Aiai Delas Alas as judges in GMA’s singing competition "The Clash."
Lani Misalucha (born Lani Dimalanta Bayot on August 3, 1969) is a celebrated Filipino vocalist with extraordinary range and versatility in pop, jazz, rock, soul, R\&B, and even operatic arias. Dubbed Asia’s Nightingale by MTV Southeast Asia, she rose to prominence following her breakthrough 1997 album "More Than I Should" and signature hits such as “Tunay Na Mahal,” “All Heart,” and “Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin.”

Previously, Ai-Ai posed for a photo with Coco Martin and Tom Rodriguez taken in Los Angeles, California. Coco is currently in LA to shoot a film in which Ai-Ai's son, Sancho Vito, is also a part of. The comedienne and Tom, on the other hand, recently worked together at an event in Carson, California. Ai-Ai further described her picture with the two actors as "a very happy pic."
