Vice Ganda, long celebrated for her strong connection with Filipino audiences, was recently honored as the Box Office Hero at the 8th Eddys by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEED), ABS-CBN reported.

Her consistent appeal through hit movies like "Petrang Kabayo," "Praybeyt Benjamin," "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy," and "And The Breadwinner Is" has solidified her place in Philippine cinema.

Wearing an all-black ensemble, Vice personally accepted the award from Senator Mark Villar and Regal producer Roselle Monteverde.

In her speech, she acknowledged the criticisms that often follow her projects.

“Maraming nagtatanong kung bakit lagi raw maraming nanonood ng pelikula ko... maraming nagtataas ng kilay, maraming nagkukuwestiyon,” she said, referring to doubters and critics.
She addressed how some label her work as “walang kwenta, walang katuturan, slapstick, katsipan, puro kabaklaan, puro kabaduyan, bakyang-bakya,” but emphasized why audiences still flock to see her films.
“Ang pelikula ko ay nagsisilbing pangtakas... para tumawa’t humagalpak hanggang sa makalimutan nila ng ilang segundo kung ano ‘yung masakit, malungkot, at mahirap na sitwasyon ng kanilang pamumuhay araw-araw,” she explained.

Vice pointed out that despite costly cinema tickets, Filipinos still watch her films. “Gusto nilang tumawa... ‘yun ang magpapatawid sa kanila para bukas buhay pa sila... may inspirasyon pa rin sila,” she added.

Ending on a heartfelt note, she expressed deep gratitude to her loyal audience.

“Ako at ang masang Pilipino ay may ugnayan... nakabuo ako ng isang magandang ugnayan sa masang Pilipino.”
