Herbert met Ruffa’s daughters, Lorin and Venice, on their first date, a move that won their approval.

He also encouraged Ruffa to return to school, a gesture Lorin praised as a sign of their strong connection.

Herbert, however, faced a setback with a graft conviction on January 20, 2025, related to a 2019 P32 million procurement deal in Quezon City.

He was sentenced to six to ten years in prison and barred from public office.
