The farmer, caught off guard during his rest, did not survive the impact.

The chaos began around 2:30 p.m. when police flagged down the suspect’s car at the checkpoint.

While questioning the driver, officers spotted a gun next to the driver’s seat.

Sensing trouble, the suspect suddenly reversed the car, nearly hitting two policemen, and sped off toward Barangay Muzon, Sta. Teresita.

During the high-speed chase, the suspect collided with two other vehicles before veering into the sugar cane field where the fatal crash occurred.

When Taal police searched the abandoned car, they found alarming items: plastic sachets containing 85 grams of suspected shabu, valued at approximately P578,000, a .45 caliber submachine gun, a magnum 357 revolver, and ammunition.

The suspect, identified as a resident of Barangay Pansol, Taal, is now the target of a hot pursuit operation by authorities.
