JM, a talented child actor in showbiz, tragically passed away in 2023 at the young age of 17.
News of his passing was widely reported, including by GMA News, were made after his passing was confirmed by their eldest brother, Jerom Canlas, in a sad yet heartfelt Facebook post.
In his recent interview, Elijah shared that he continues to hear stories about JM from fans, which makes him even more proud as a big brother, seeing the accomplishments JM has made.
Elijah also remembered accompanying JM to sets, describing how proud he felt watching his younger brother thrive, "When I watch him, dumadalaw ako sa set, makikita ko na ganun siya ka-talented, ganun siya ka-confident. Nakaka-proud as a kuya, of course. Kasi aside from him helping our family through that job, nakikita ko na nage-enjoy siya, na genuinely masaya siya.
However, this isn't the first time Elijah has publicly honored JM’s memory on social media.
In October 2024, Philstar reported that Elijah paid tribute to his late brother through a touching Instagram story after attending Olivia Rodrigo’s concert—an artist JM was a huge fan of.
