Hajji Alejandro, an icon of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) industry, has passed away at the age of 70.

News of his demise was confirmed through a statement released by Girlie Rodis, the manager of his daughter, singer Rachel Alejandro.
The statement conveyed the family's deep grief and requested privacy during this difficult time.
Amidst the mourning, a poignant tribute emerged from another of Hajji’s daughters, chef Barni Alejandro.

Taking to Instagram, Barni shared a heartfelt video of herself singing her father's classic hit, “Ang Lahat Ng Ito'y Para Sa'Yo” (All of This Is For You).
Her voice filled with emotion, Barni captioned the post with a touching message expressing her profound loss and deep love for her father.
“I can’t fathom a life without you. My heart is broken into a million pieces. You were my first love, my hero, my idol. Forever, your Yabs!” she wrote, using a personal term of endearment for her dad.
The revelation of Hajji Alejandro’s battle with colon cancer had come just last March during an interview with Julius Babao, where his long-time partner, Alynna Velasquez, shared the news of his stage 4 diagnosis.
Despite the challenges, the OPM legend remained a cherished figure in the industry.
Hajji’s career took flight in the 1970s, quickly establishing him as a major pop star. His captivating charm and smooth vocal delivery earned him the moniker “kilabot ng mga kolehiyala” (heartthrob of college girls).
His extensive discography boasts numerous enduring hits that have become staples in Filipino music, including “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika” (How Beautiful Our Music Is), which won him the grand prize at the first Metro Manila Popular Music Festival in 1978, “Nakapagtataka” (It's Puzzling), “Tag-Araw, Tag-Ulan” (Summer, Rain), “Panakip-Butas” (Stopgap), “If I Were Man Enough,” and “May Minamahal” (Loving Someone).

Hajji Alejandro was a Pinoy singer and actor Alaminos, Pangasinan. Born in December 26, 1954, Hajji became a major pop star in the 1970s and 1980s. Like another OPM legend, Basil Valdez, Hajji also came from the group Circus Band. He was also the first winner of the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival with his song interpretation of “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika” composed by Ryan Cayabyab. He also won the grand prize at the Seoul International Music Festival in South Korea. Hajji died April 22, 2025 after a battle with colon cancer.

In his Instagram post, Arnold revealed that Hajji had Stage 4 Colon Cancer and that it spread. Needless to say, many, including Sharon Cuneta, left a comment on Arnold's viral post.
