Fans, many of whom grew up during the golden age of Philippine cinema, flocked to the comments section to reflect on the significance of the moment, and Vilma's friendship with Nora.
For decades, they were seen as two towering figures — often compared, sometimes pitted against each other by fans, but always bound by mutual respect and a shared legacy in the arts as well.
Local media confirmed that Vilma was one of the earliest visitors to arrive at the wake of Nora.
Nora, the beloved "Superstar," passed away on April 16, as confirmed by her son, Ian de Leon, in an emotional Facebook post, one that has quickly gone viral across several social media platforms.
