The grief was palpable as Ian de Leon, son of the late National Artist and veteran superstar Nora Aunor, stood before the press with his siblings on Thursday, April 17, to address the latter's death.
In a video released by ABS-CBN News, Ian tried to hold back tears as he shared heartfelt words in memory of the legendary actress and singer who left a huge void in their hearts after her passing.

"Hindi maiiwasan ang mga pangyayari sa buhay. May mga plano ang Diyos. May mga magaganda pa siyang plano na hindi pa natin alam," Ian began in the 11-minute video that was posted online.

His words reflected both sorrow and faith, underscoring the family's attempt to find solace amid overwhelming loss, one that made netizens emotional on social media as they watched the video.

Together with his siblings, Ian took a moment to express deep gratitude to the people and the many supporters who have stood by the late actress, and their family through the years as well.
"Sa aming pamilya... on behalf of my siblings, my family, my children, and my wife. Maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat, sa mga andito na, sa mga may planong pumunta dito, alam po namin na andiyan kayo," he said sincerely.
Eventually, Ian read a statement prepared by the family, officially confirming the passing of the iconic star.
"She passed away peacefully last night, April 16, and was surrounded by those who loved her the most," he shared, visibly moved, before continuing, "From a very young age, our mom has captivated hearts with her talent, grace, and unmatched voice. Over the decades, she built a career that shaped the very soul of our culture."
But midway through the press conference, Ian was overcome with emotion as his voice trembled, forcing him to pause briefly as he gathered himself, with his siblings comforting him as well.
Despite the heartbreak, the actor pushed through, and continued on with the press conference.
"Kaya siya naging superstar, kaya siya naging National Artist, dahil yun sa pagmamahal. Dahil yun sa binigay na biyaya ng Panginoon," he concluded, his voice shaking yet resolute.
Nora, widely revered as the 'Superstar,' leaves behind a huge legacy in film, television, and music.

Known as the 'Superstar of Philippine cinema, she has earned critical acclaim for her powerful performances in films such as Himala, Bona, and The Flor Contemplacion Story.
