Nikki Gil-Albert, a former actress and singer, took to Instagram on Monday, April 14, to share an emotional update about a recent family ordeal: her daughter Maddie being hospitalized.

In a heartfelt post accompanied by a series of photos taken during their hospital stay, Nikki revealed that her young daughter had been diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, a rare illness.

"What a week," Nikki began, setting the tone for what she described as one of the most challenging times in their lives as parents after seeing what their daughter had to go through.

According to Nikki, "Maddie was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease — something we had never even heard of, and seeing our little girl in pain, hooked to IVs, enduring tests and meds, was the hardest thing we've ever gone through as parents."

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Kawasaki disease is a rare illness that causes high fever, and even inflammation of blood vessels, and one that primarily affects children under 5 years old.

Despite the gravity of the situation about her daughter, Nikki turned to faith and gratitude.

"Even in the scariest moments, God showed up—in the peace He gave, the people He sent, and the healing He allowed. We give Him all the glory for carrying us through and for Maddie's recovery."

Nikki, who stepped back from showbiz to focus on her family life with BJ, expressed deep appreciation for their support system, acknowledging the love and care they received.

"So thankful for our village—every message, prayer, meal, visit, and word of encouragement meant the world to us. And to our amazing medical team, especially Dr. @romeonuguidmd, you were all heaven-sent," the former actress wrote.

Eventually, the update ended on a hopeful note on her Instagram: "We're finally home with our brave girl, and while recovery continues, our hearts are filled with gratitude. God is so, so, so good."
