Sen. Grace Poe is among those mourning the demise of the Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales.

On her social media page on Saturday, April 12, the lady politician expressed her sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
“Ang aming taos-pusong pakikiramay sa pagpanaw ng Asia’s Queen of Songs, Miss Pilita Corrales.”
She went on to pen nothing but nice words about the late veteran singer-actress, lauding her incomparable contributions to the entertainment industry.

“Si Pilita ang halimbawa na ang tunay na ganda at talento ay hindi kumukupas sa pagdaan ng mga taon. Sa kanyang anim na dekada niya sa showbiz, nakatatak sa kaisipan ng mamamayang Pilipino ang kanyang natatanging istilo ng pagkanta at ang kanyang nakakahalinang liyad kapag tumataas ang mga nota. Ang kanyang 135 na album ay patunay ng kanyang matimbang na ambag sa musikang Pilipino.”

Aside from citing Corrales’ legacy, Poe also thanked the Asia’s Queen of Songs for being a good family friend.
“Isang milyong pasasalamat sa iyong kontribusyon sa sining at industriya at sa mabuting pagkakaibigan sa aming pamilya, Tita Pilita,” the daughter of National Artist Fernando Poe Jr. and the late actress Susan Roces earnestly added.
It is worth noting that on Saturday, April 12, Janine Gutierrez announced the unfortunate news about her beloved grandmother.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mami and mamita, Pilita Corrales.”
“Pilita touched the lives of many, not only with her songs but also with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry, but most of all for her love of life and family.”
The Kapamilya actress likewise asked the public to “join us with your prayers and kind thoughts as we celebrate her beautiful life.”
Janine, however, did not mention the cause of death of the well-loved Asia’s Queen of Songs. Here is her announcement:
Born on August 22, 1939, Pilita Corrales was a multi-talented artist—a singer, actress, comedian, and television host who achieved success not only in the Philippines but also internationally. She was the first female artist to score a number one hit on the Australian pop charts in the 1950s with the song “Come Closer to Me.”
Janno Gibbs has also taken to social media to honor Pilita Corrales. On his Instagram page, Janno shared a clip from their music video for “Kapantay Ay Langit,” which was also Pilita’s first-ever music video in her career. In the caption, Janno wrote a heartfelt tribute to the late veteran singer-actress. He began his earnest caption by wishing Pilita’s soul an eternal peace. The singer-actor also affectionately expressed, “Love you Tapilits. Your voice stayed golden till the end.”

In another report by KAMI, Jericho Rosales paid tribute to the late Pilita Corrales, his girlfriend Janine Gutierrez’s grandmother. In an Instagram post, Jericho wrote a heartfelt message to the bereaved family. He expressed how much he felt honored to have met the Asia’s Queen of Songs. The actor also shared a video of his mother singing Pilita’s “Ang Pipit.”
