Manuel Masalva, best known for his role in Narcos: Mexico, has been placed in a medically induced coma following an "aggressive bacteria" after his most recent trip to the Philippines.

His manager, Jaime Jaramillo Espinosa, confirmed the alarming news to the Los Angeles Times, revealing that the actor began feeling "internal discomfort and pain" after arriving in Dubai.

According to the report of Deadline, the pain worsened rapidly, and in late March, doctors soon discovered that the infection had already spread to the actor's lungs which led to a surgery.

On March 26 in Dubai, Manuel underwent an emergency surgery and was immediately placed in a medically induced coma to stabilize his condition, as per the official report of PhilStar Life.

While his condition remains critical, doctors have described it as stable nevertheless.

Just days before his hospitalization, on March 15, Manuel even shared several glimpses of his Philippine adventure on social media, calling it "one of the most beautiful experiences of my life."

The photos and stories he posted featured serene landscapes, cultural sites, and moments of quiet joy—making the sudden turn of events even more heartbreaking for his fans and followers online.

In response to the growing medical costs, his family has also launched a 'GoFundMe' campaign to help cover his treatments and extended hospitalization after his most recent surgery as well.

Among those who have publicly voiced support is Manuel's co-star and close friend Mario Morán.

Previously, Mario took to Instagram to plead, "My brother is fighting for his life far from home."

He even shared, "I want to ask for your support in this difficult moment. He was the victim of a very aggressive bacterium while he was on vacation and this led him to be in an induced coma."

Manuel Masalva is a Mexican actor and singer, recognized for his performances in television series such as Narcos: Mexico and La Guzmán. He pursued music studies for five years before transitioning to acting. He gained international recognition for his amazing portrayal of Ramón Arellano Félix in Narcos: Mexico, and also played Luis Enrique Guzmán in La Guzmán.

As previously reported by KAMI, Hollywood actor Val Kilmer passed away on Tuesday, April 1 at the age of 65. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed the news, according to The New York Times. Mercedes likewise revealed the cause of death also. Val was known for portraying Batman in "Batman Forever" and Iceman in "Top Gun."
