Mama Ogs went on to share his frank message to the senator’s detractors.
“Sa mga buwisit ke Senator Risa Hontiveros, lalo na ang mga AYAW sa kanya. Pag ayaw nyo to, sobrahan nyo yung bayad sa Meralco.”
According to Philippine News Agency's report in January, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Hontiveros said the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) must be made to refund an estimated PHP100 billion in alleged overcollections from consumers over the years before its legislative franchise is renewed by Congress.
“Meralco’s franchise doesn’t expire until 2028, giving ample time to correct these wrongs and refund every peso unjustly collected from consumers,” the senator said in a news release.
Meanwhile, in Manila Standard's article published on March 17, Hontiveros welcomed the P19.9-billion Meralco refund to consumers as ordered by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), but asserted that the amount was “only a small tranche” compared to the estimated P100 billion owed by the company.
“The refund is good news for our people who suffered the high rates of electricity this summer. But the truth is, this is small compared to the estimated P100 billion in over-collections that should be returned to the people,” Hontiveros said in Filipino.
Ogie Diaz is one of the most famous showbiz reporters in the country. His YouTube channel, Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update, is one of the most anticipated weekly as a source of hot showbiz news. He has several children with his wife, and they are all very talented and respectful towards their parents.
Just recently, Ogie Diaz frankly reacted to a viral video about Kim Chiu. The video shows a man covering Kim’s face on a Julie’s Bakeshop poster. Mama Ogs could not help but ask, “Ano’ng kasalanan ni Kim Chiu sa inyo?” It is worth noting that following the incident, Julie’s Bakeshop sent a heartfelt letter to the Kapamilya actress.
Diaz also reacted to the ICC assistant to counsel Atty. Kristina Conti’s warning addressed to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters. On his Facebook account, Diaz shared a video of DZXL News’ interview with Conti. She mentioned the impact of the actions of the supporters to the former leader’s case. Diaz then penned some pieces of advice to the said supporters.
