Julia Barretto, an actress and entrepreneur, has broken her silence over the false accusations she has received regarding her recent trip to Camiguin for her online travel series, Juju On The Go.
The actress, who visited the island from March 1-3 upon the invitation of its local leaders, emphasized that her presence was actually part of a tourism initiative dedicated to Camiguin.

However, she recently found herself at the center of controversy after being accused by a netizen of ordering temporary area closures during the shoot for Juju On The Go in the local area.
"A particular [netizen] has publicly claimed that I ordered these closures, labeling me as entitled and selfish," Julia stated in her now-viral statement on her official account on Instagram.

"To clarify: I was not involved in any decisions regarding closures. The coordination and management of the locations were entirely under the jurisdiction of the local government."
She further explained that she was merely informed about the temporary closures and had no authority over such decisions, unlike what some people were claiming on social media.
Expressing her frustration over the misleading claims by the netizen on social media, she then added, "To assume I had the authority to dictate such decisions is both unfair and misleading."
Julia even stressed that while she typically avoids engaging with baseless accusations, she will not tolerate misinformation that distorts her character or the purpose of her travel project,
"This project has always been about celebrating destinations, supporting communities, and sharing meaningful experiences," she asserted in her viral statement on the photo-sharing app.
Additionally, the actress revealed that she is taking legal action against the spread of false and misleading information, including a manipulated TikTok video using an alleged fake audio.
She also addressed the netizen, saying, "I hope neither you nor anyone in your life would have to experience the kind of unfounded attack and cruel words you have directed at me without having knowledge of what has transpired. Words have weight, and spreading misinformation can cause real harm."
