The causes of death of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, have been officially revealed.
The information was disclosed during a press conference by Dr. Heather Jarrell, the chief medical investigator for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
According to Dr. Jarrell, Hackman passed away due to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, which was further complicated by his Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Jarrell also said that it could be quite possible that Hackman wasn't aware that his wife was already dead for a week before he passed away.

Meanwhile, Arakawa succumbed to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare and severe type of infection.
"He was in a very poor state of health. He had significant heart disease, and I think ultimately that is what resulted in his death," said Dr. Jarrell in front of the press people.
On the other hand, the cause of their dog's death has yet to be discovered.
Gene Hackman is a legendary Oscar-winning actor known for his powerful performances and commanding screen presence. He won two Academy Awards, one for The French Connection (1971) as tough detective Popeye Doyle and another for Unforgiven (1992) as the ruthless sheriff Little Bill Daggett.
