- The director said there were just some movie houses who said they cannot include said word in case they’re going to show it in their place

- He also said that no matter what the title of the movie will be, whether a word would be removed or added, it would still have the same drive and that is the truth

Darryl Yap recently addressed the comments of some netizens who kept on saying he already changed the title of his new movie about Pepsi Paloma.

It can be recalled that the director’s movie, #TROPP, became controversial because of the inclusion of a word, considered by some as taboo, in the title.

The controversy reached greater heights when its teaser trailer mentioned the name of a well-known Pinoy celebrity.

As regards the alleged changing of the title, Darryl said some movie houses already sent word to him that they wouldn’t be able to include the word in question should they feature the movie in their location.

“Hindi po binago ang title ng #TROPP #TROPP2025 THE RAPISTS OF PEPSI PALOMA, meron lamang pong mga sinehan sa bansa ang nagpauna nang nagsabing hindi sila maaaring magpaskil ng salitang RAP**** kaya ang makikita lang sa kanila ay #PEPSIPALOMA,” Darryl said in a Facebook post.

He also lamented the alleged trolls and fake news being directed against him and his latest movie.

“Ako po ay 7 years pa lamang sa Industry, walang sapat na makinarya laban sa trolls, fake news, pag pabor ng mainstream media,” the director said.

Near the end of his post, Darryl said that no matter what the title of the movie is, whether a word or two would be removed or added, it would always have the same drive, and that is the search for truth.

“Ang Pelikula po, mabawasan man o madagdagan ng salita o kataga, iisa lamang ang basa—KATOTOHANAN,” he said.

Direk Darryl then asked everyone to just wait for the official trailer and the announcement as regards its showing date.

“Pakaabangan ang Official Trailer at ang pag-aanunsyo kung kailan sa Pebrero ipalalabas ang aming munting Pelikula,” Direk Darryl said.

Previously, the director also took to Facebook and addressed "trolls." It was a post that responds to questions why he was brave, and who was backing him up. The director said that it was not Imee, nor Jalosjos, nor Discaya. He then declared that the controversial Pepsi Paloma movie will be shown in 2025 because it is the 40th death anniversary of Pepsi.
