President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos became emotional as Sofronio Vasquez, The Voice USA Champion, sang in front of them and other government officials at the Malacañang Palace.
Earlier today, the international singing sensation paid a courtesy call on the President at the palace.
Aside from the President and First Lady, the President’s sister, Mrs. Irene Marcos-Araneta and some government officials were also present.
Sofronio sang his winning piece at The Voice US, “A Million Dreams,” which is part of the original soundtrack of the movie “The Greatest Showman.”

As he rendered his version of the song, PBBM and FL Liza became visibly emotional while listening to him, with the FL wiping her eyes several times.
After singing the song, PBBM stood while clapping his hands for Sofronio.
“Dito parang kaunti na lang gawin naming national holiday 'yung pagkapanalo mo eh... Happy ang lahat ng Pinoy... kasi parang lahat nagsasabi ang galing ng Pinoy, sa music... pero ito tunay na ito, recognized,” PBBM said of Sofronio.
In an ambush interview, Sofronio said he really felt how genuine PBBM was while he was singing.
He also expressed thanks to the first couple and other government officials for being there to welcome him despite their busy schedule.
“Hindi matatanggal sa feeling mo 'yung pagkagalak ba in Tagalog na kumakanta ka sa harap ng Presidente, kumbaga close in, kasi siyempre sila 'yung namumuno eh. Just being with him na alam kong napakabusy and nagsqueeze kami ng oras and he is so genuine about it,” Sofronio said during the interview.
The Pinoy singing sensation made history as the very first Asian and first Pinoy to have been declared as the Champion in the prestigious reality show, “The Voice USA.”
Sofronio Vasquez is a Filipino singer who became famous after being declared the champion of The Voice Season 26 in America. Prior to this, he participated in local singing competitions in the Philippines such as Tawag ng Tanghalan and The Voice Philippines.
Recently, Sofronio arrived in the Philippines and was honored with a grand homecoming in a segment at the noontime show, “It’s Showtime.” He was one of the performers who opened the “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” segment of the show. Other performers include Darren Espanto, Nyoy Volante, and Yeng Constantino. He sang his The Voice USA winning piece, “A Million Dreams.” After his performance, he expressed his gratitude to “Tawag Ng Tanghalan,” which was the first platform to give him opportunity to further his singing career.
When he arrived in the Philippines last Sunday, January 5, Sofronio was warmly welcomed by his family and friends at the NAIA Terminal 1. The Voice USA Champ won a $100,000 in cash and a recording contract after winning in the reality singing contest. After arriving in the Philippines, he immediately busied himself with rehearsing for “It’s Showtime,” where he immediately appeared and performed in last January 6. He also announced his first concert in the Philippines which will be held in Cebu this January of 2025.
