Jimmy Morato, a known veteran actor and broadcaster has died.
This was announced by his son, Aldrin Magcale, in a social media post, who said Morato died Tuesday, December 17, at around five in the afternoon.
According to Aldrin, his father, whose real name is Jaime Y. Magcale, is known as the first and original “Tisoy” when he was still very active in showbiz during the Golden Age of Pinoy Cinema.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dad, Jaime Y. Magcale also known as Jimmy Morato, who passed on December 17, 2024 at around 5:00 in the afternoon,” Aldrin said in his post.

“Our dad was a cherished individual known for his kindness, dedication to work, and his sense of humor,” he added.
Aldrin also talked about the broadcasting career of his father, which he dedicated his life in outside of showbiz.
“Jimmy, a prominent Broadcast Journalist with over 25 years of being on air in his radio program Chachahin Mo, Baby,” Morato’s son said.
“The first and original 'Tisoy' from his showbiz days in the Golden Age of Philippine Cinema. A good friend. And most importantly, our loving father,” Aldrin wrote in his post.
He also expressed his gratitude to all the things his father did for him and his siblings.
“Dad, thank you for your life. I will never forget all the things you have taught me and my brothers. We will forever cherish all our memories together as a family. All the Sundays, going to church and eating at Kenny Rogers. Going to Greenhills and SM to buy new school shoes,” he said in his post.
“Thank you also for not giving up on me. During the times that I was lost as a young adult, despite all the challenges you and mom were facing, you have protected me and pushed me to become the person I am today. Thank you dad for providing me with education, and most importantly thank you for teaching me about respect and professionalism. It's going to get tough before it gets better. But I am at ease knowing that you will be spending Christmas with Mom,” Aldrin wrote.
Jimmy Morato, whose real name is Jaime Magcale, is a veteran actor and broadcaster known for his portrayals in the 1969 film “Tisoy,” the 1970 flick “Mayo-Disyembre, and another 1969 movie with the title, “Tore ng Diyablo.” He is also a popular broadcaster whose program, “Chacharin mo baby,” which airs on Radyo Bandido and provides public service and commentarie, has been running for 24 years already.
Other notable Pinoy celebrities who died this year include veteran actress Jaclyn Jose and director-writer Carlo J. Caparas. In the case of Jaclyn, she passed away last March 3, a Sunday, at the age of 60. According to a report by Abante, the veteran actress was found dead inside her home in Loyola Grand Villas in Quezon City. The cause of his death has not been made public at the time. Jaclyn is known for her excellent performance in various movies and television shows.
Meanwhile, during the memorial service of Direk Carlo, Sen. Bong Revilla paid him tribute and said that he would not be a Bong Revilla without Caparas' guidance. He emphasized Caparas' great contribution to the spread of Filipino culture. Revilla ended his speech by thanking and saying goodbye to Caparas, whom he considers a mentor.
