Mercy Sunot of the legendary Pinoy rock band has died.

Details about the cause of death hasn’t been released yet by the family, though Mercy is known to have been suffering from a lingering ailment.

Among the first to break the gloomy news on Facebook was one of the key crew members of Aegis, Frankie Ballesteros.

Moments later, Mercy’s sister, Juliet Sunot, changed her profile photo into one that signifies losing a loved one.

It can be recalled that the popular vocalist, who is idolized by many because of her strong and powerful voice, even gave a video update several days ago regarding her condition.

In a video clip on TikTok, the popular singer revealed she just came out of surgery but she experienced difficulty in breathing, which was was she was brought to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Tapos na 'yung surgery ko sa lungs. Pero biglang nahirapan akong huminga. So dinala ako sa ICU. Tapos ngayon, may inflammation 'yung lungs ko so ginagawan na nila ng paraan... Steroids ang pinainom sa akin ng doctor para sa inflammation,” Mercy said.

She also asked for prayers from everyone to help her get through this trial.

“'Pag-pray niyo ko na matatapos 'tong pagsubok na 'to. 'Pag-pray niyo ako,” the popular Aegis vocalist said a couple of days before succumbing to her illness and passing away.

Mercy Sunot is one of the main vocalists of the Pinoy legendary rock band, Aegis. She is known for her vocal power and for singing powerful songs. Aegis is very popular for their songs “Halik,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Luha,” “Sinta,” and many more. The band was able to maintain their popularity in more than two decades in the industry with their songs becoming part of the lives of many generations of Pinoy music.

Last Saturday, Mercy herself gave an update about her condition. In a TikTok video, she tearfully recounted the trial she’s going through right now. She also gave details about the operation she recently underwent and how she’s feeling at the time.

Meanwhile in other news, Side A has issued a warning to its former vocalist, Joey Generoso, about the song “Forevermore.” According to Joey, he was warned by the song’s composer not to sing the said song in his gigs. Joey G is the original vocalist of Side A. For the part of Joey, he said he wanted to talk to the composer and clarify that he’s not angry when he received the warning.
