Willie Revillame, in an interview over “The Big Story” after he filed his candidacy for senator, revealed the real reason why he is running for office.

During the interview, one of the show’s hosts, Gretchen Ho, asked him what changed his mind about running and then called to mind about what Willie said some time ago.
“What changed your mind? Naalala ko sinabi nyo nung panahon na yun na 'naku magulo sa pulitika, nag-aaway-away yung mga tao, ayaw nyong makigulo dun. Pwede na kayo dito kasi nakakatulong sa programa ninyo, sa araw-araw na trabaho ninyo, bakit po?” Gretchen asked Wil.
He then gave an indication that he would like a bigger platform where he can help more people.

“Kasi dun sa studio ng 'Wil to Win', it's only about 600 people every day. So ang natutulungan mo, di mo naman natutulungan yung lahat ng 600 na yun, so yung budget mo sa tulong, limited. And then nung nakita ko yung awayan ng awayan dun sa congress, awayan ng awayan sa senado, nagiging kawawa ang mga Pilipino. Ito yung mga taong ibinoto, ito yung mga taong pinagkakatiwalaan. Pero nakakalimutan yung mga kawawang kababayan natin. So I thought baka makatulong ako kahit papano at siguro makikipag-away ako sa senado kahit kanino para sa mahihirap,” Willie said.
Another host of the show then asked Willie as to when did he fully decide to run for office.
“Kelan nyo po napagdesisyunan na with finality na 'o sige game na nga' kasi buzzer beatrer po kayo dun sa filing,” the host asked.
“You want to know the truth? Kanina lang. Hanggang nandun ako sa may Rizal hotel, I'll be honest, napaiyak pa ako, paurong na ako eh, pero may mga kumausap sa akin, siyempre eto na yung chance,” Willie said.
Willie Revillame is a famous comedian and television host in the Philippines. He worked for many years for both GMA and ABS-CBN. Kuya Wil is known for being one of the country's wealthiest and most generous celebrities.
Recently, Willie showed just how serious he is with his health when he shared a photo of him doing some workouts with Coach Hazel Calawod by his side. this was after he filed his Certificate of Candidacy to run for senator in next year's elections. Hazel, the sports occupational therapist of Pinoy Olympian Carlos Yulo has started training Willie.
Earlier, the famous TV host filed his Certificate of Candidacy. Just minutes before the Comelec concluded the COCs, Willie arrived to file his. He was accompanied by Sam Verzosa, who is running for Manila mayor as well. Needless to say, Willie's decision to run was met with several reactions and comments.
