Jessy Mendiola, a Filipina celebrity, recently defended her husband, Luis Manzano, and his choice of running for public office this year.
On her Instagram page, Jessy dedicated a heartfelt message of support for Luis after he recently filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

In the comments, Jessy responded to a netizen, telling them to give Luis a chance to prove his worth as he runs for public office this year.
"Sana rin bigyan ng pagkakataon si Luis to prove this. He grew up learning so much from his mom and his stepdad when it comes to politics. I do not understand why some people are so quick to judge porket “artista” siya. Ang pagiging artista ay isa lang sa mga kaya niyang gawin sa buhay. Others do not know Luis like I do. What if he just really wants to serve the Filipino people? Others are so quick to judge," she began.

According to Jessy, among the artists who are running for public office, Luis is one of the most qualified to be in the seat for public service.
"Honestly, sa lahat ng artista na tumakbo at tumatakbo, si Luis ang isa sa pinaka-qualified sa lahat. I hope people let him prove himself when it comes to public service. Kung ang ibang tao nga may karapatan tumakbo, bakit ang isang tulad niya hindi pwede? Napalaki ng maayos at matino si Luis nila Momski, Daddyo at Tito Ralph. Hindi naman siya ina-appoint sa pwesto niya. Lalaban siya ng patas. At the end of the day, ang mga BOTANTE parin ang magdedesisyon kung ihahalal siya bilang public servant, wala nang iba," she wrote.
Responding to another netizen, Jessy said people have the right to judge but that Luis also has the right to prove himself to the people as well.
"Yes. They have the right to judge, but let’s not forget that he has a right to prove himself too. It goes both ways. Nagsisimula palang siya, pinipigilan na agad. Hindi pare-parehas lahat ng artista," she wrote.
