Leyna Bloom, a Filipino-American who lives in Chicago, Illinois, recently made a post on Instagram clarifying that she was actually the first Filipina to have walked the L'Oréal Runway in Paris.
This claim made by Leyna appear contrary to the one earlier made by Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Earlier, Pia shared on her own IG a teaser video of the “Le Defile Walk Your Worth” by L'Oréal Paris along with her caption indicating she’s making history as the first Filipino to walk the L’Oreal catwalk.
“Excited to make history as the first Filipina walking the L’Oréal catwalk for Le Défilé! Can’t wait to see you all at the Palais Garnier—let the countdown begin! ❤️” Pia wrote in the description section of her post on Instagram.

However, a later post by Leyna on her own Instagram account appear to debunk the claim made by Pia on her own post a couple of days ago.
“I’m incredibly grateful to @lorealparis for inviting me to be part of such a powerful and inspiring show. Reflecting on this journey, it feels surreal that nearly three years have passed since I made history as the first #Filipino 🇵🇭 and #BlaanTribe woman to walk the prestigious L’Oréal Paris runway, right in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower. That moment, shared with @katgraham, is etched in my heart as a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come. We absolutely owned that runway!” Leyna said in the beginning of her post.
“That year holds even deeper significance because I had the honor of standing alongside @supa_ines as we became the first trans women to ever walk that legendary stage. It wasn’t just about representation—it was about breaking boundaries, changing perceptions, and showing the world that beauty transcends the limits placed on us by society,” she added.
Leyna further said that she’s very honored to have also made history as the first trans-woman in the US “to maintain a three-year brand ambassador partnership” with L’Oreal.
“In addition, I am profoundly honored to have made history as the first trans woman in America to maintain a three-year brand ambassador partnership with this incredible company. It’s a testament to the progress we’ve made, but also a reminder of the work still to be done. L’Oréal Paris has shown a commitment to embracing diversity, inclusion, and empowerment in ways that truly make a difference,” the Fil-Am actress and model said.
“This event is more than a fashion show—it’s a celebration of women from every walk of life, each bringing her unique story, strength, and beauty to the world. It reminds us of the importance of lifting each other up, of breaking down barriers together, and of creating a future where every voice is heard, every identity celebrated,” she further wrote.
“Being part of a brand that champions diversity means the world to me, and together, we continue to pave the way for future generations. We are not only walking the runway; we are walking our worth, showing the world that we all belong. We are all #WorthIt 🤍,” she added.
“Huge congratulations to my Filipino sisters, @glamzilla & @piawurtzbach, for walking the runway this year—you both looked absolutely stunning and represented us beautifully,” Leyna concluded.
Leyna, a Fil-Am model and actress was born to a Filipina mother and an African-American father.
She proudly identifies herself as a Filipina and a member of the B'laan Tribe, an indigenous and non-Islamic tribal community found in Davao del Sur and South Cotabato.
Pia Wurtzbach is a Filipino-German actress, model, and Miss Universe 2015 titleholder. She is one of the four Filipinas to earn the title. She is now married to travel entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey. They had their wedding in Seychelles and it was a very private one.
In a previous post, Pia also took to IG Stories and shared several amazing photos from Milan Fashion Week. In one of the latest pics she shared, it showed that a bluish Ferrari picked her up. The beauty queen was also very proud with the flashy car that arrived. She also shared some videos taken from the Ferrari event
It can also be recalled that Pia is among the celebrities who graced the New York Fashion Week. She recently posted a reel answering accusations about her Carolina Herrera show attendance. In the reel, Pia admitted to missing the show due to traffic delays. Despite what happened, the beauty queen continued to shoot her outfits from the said brand.
