Doc Willie Ong is making headlines after he revealed last Saturday, September 14, that he has been diagnosed with abdominal cancer.

On Sunday, September 15, the cardiologist and health advocate took to social media and penned a lengthy and meaningful post about his health condition.

“I consider myself very very lucky because I have good medical care and loving relatives beside me,” he expressed.

However, Doc Willie could not help but think about poor patients who can never avail of such treatment.

“But what STRESSES, ANGERS and HURTS me the most is that I know millions of Filipinos can NEVER avail of such treatment. I cry for this injustice.”

The doctor then vowed, “If God will grant me a miraculous healing for my huge 16 cm sarcoma, I will spend the rest of my remaining days fighting and lobbying for our poor countrymen.”

“Finally, even if you bash and hurt me, I will still help you. My love for all Filipinos is unconditional. May God give me the chance to prove it to you once and for all,” he added.

Born on October 24. 1963, Dr. Willie Ong is cardiologist who served as consultant of the Department of Health from 2010 to 2014. He graduated the De La Salle University College of Medicine in 1992, and earned his Master in Public Health degree from the University of the Philippines Manila in 2002. He ran for vice president in the 2022 Elections.

Isko Moreno expressed sadness over Doc Willie Ong's current health condition. According to a report by GMA News' Balitambayan, Isko stated he is hoping for Doc Willie's quick recovery. The former Manila mayor also shared his uplifting message for the doctor.
