Carlos Yulo’s old video showing him being interviewed back when he was only 12 years old has delighted many netizens and has gone viral.
In the video shared by Rappler, one can see the future 2-gold Olympian medalist candidly answer questions about his experiences as a young sportsman.
In one scene in the video, a young Caloy smiled as he recalled losing in the Palarong Pambansa games held in Tacloban in 2009.
He admitted he lacked training at the time, which is why he lost.

“2009 po yung Palarong Tacloban, ako po ay natalo. Dahil po di ako nagtraining maige,” the young Caloy said.
The future Olympian then said that because of that defeat, he decided to train well in order to prepare himself for future games.
“Nung bumalik po ako rito at nagtraining na nagtraining, nung 2011, May 20, sa Zamboanga, nanalo po ako. Champion,” he said.
He then expressed hopes he would also be a champion in upcoming Palarong Pambansa events.
“Sa susunod na palaro, sana po maging champion ako,” Caloy said.
The young sportsman went on to win one event after the other and as they say, the rest is history.
Today, Caloy is the first Filipino to win two Olympic gold medals in the same Olympic year.
Carlos Yulo is a Filipino artistic gymnast known for his exceptional skills and achievements in gymnastics. He gained international recognition for his performances in various competitions, particularly in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He has now brought home the first gold medal in gymnastics of the Philippines in the Olympics.

Caloy then imparted an important advice to everyone regarding to what each one has at present.
He also shared, in another video interview, this time by ABS-CBN, the difficult journey he had until he reached the Olympics. He said that how he was able to achieve the gold was not easy. There were so many obstacles that he faced, and he poured sweat and blood to the game. Caloy said that he never gave up and that was one of the blessings that God gave him, underscoring the value of being thankful.
