The Office of the Vice President has released an official statement on the Europe trip of VP Sara Duterte.

It can be recalled that the VP, along with members of her family, left the country for Germany.
Their trip happened at a time the nation is grappling with the onslaught of typhoon Carina.
In the OVP’s official statement, it said that VP Sara “is on a personal trip with her family overseas.

It also stated that VP Sara’s trip has been approved by the Office of the President.
The statement also thanked the public “for respecting the privacy of the other members of the family.”
“The Vice President is on a personal trip with her family overseas. Her departure received the necessary approvals, as evidenced by the travel authority issued by the Office of the President dated 09 July 2024. We thank the public for respecting the privacy of the other members of the family,” read the statement from the OVP.
The OVP’s statement then pointed out it was unfortunate the onslaught of typhoon Carina coincided with the trip.
It assured the public, however, that the Disaster Operations Center of the OVP is ready to assist those affected by calamities.
“The timing of the trip coinciding with Typhoon Carina is unfortunate. Nonetheless, the Disaster Operations Center of the OVP, institutionalized by the Vice President, is always ready to assist families affected by calamities. Thank you,” the statement from the OVP said.
Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, commonly known as Inday Sara, is a Filipino lawyer and politician who currently serves as the 15th vice president of the Philippines. She is notable for being the third female vice president, the third vice president from Mindanao, and the youngest vice president in the country's history. Duterte held the position of secretary of education until July 19, 2024. She is the daughter of the 16th president, Rodrigo Duterte, and has served as the mayor of Davao City from 2016 to 2022 and from 2010 to 2013. Additionally, she was Davao City's vice mayor from 2007 to 2010.
More than a week ago, VP Sara announced she will not attend the third SONA of President Bongbong Marcos on July 22. She shared her decision in an ambush interview during the inauguration of the Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Center in Davao City on Thursday. The Vice President also named herself the "designated survivor." This will be the first time that Duterte will skip PBBM's SONA since their tandem won the 2022 election.
Earlier, she also answered questions concerning the scar that was seen on her neck. In what journos called as a "slash scar," it was first noticed by the public on June 12. Initially, reporters tried to reach her office, but failed to get an answer with regards the scar. In a video posted on Facebook, the vice president addressed the scar by saying that "they tried but failed to slash me."
