In the post of the international award-giving body, which was written in French, they said that they remembered the face of the actress as one beaming with emotion as she received her award in 2016.

It can be recalled that Jaclyn won the Best Actress Award in 2016 at the Cannes Film Festival, the only Filipino to have won the said award so far, for her portrayal of her role in Ma’ Rosa, a film by Brillante Mendoza.

Translated in the English language, the Cannes Film Fest post read: “Upon learning of the death of Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose, the Cannes Film Festival remembers her face beaming with emotion when she received the Best Actor Prize in 2016 for Ma’Rosa by Brillante Mendoza.”

The international organization also praised Jaclyn for presenting a “very beautiful portrait of a woman” through her grace and humanity.

Mary Jane Santa Ana Guck, also known by her stage name Jaclyn Jose, was a Filipino cinema and TV actress who had earned international critical acclaim. Jaclyn won the Best Actress award for the film “Ma'Rosa” at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. She was also known for her roles in the films "Private Show", "White Slavery", and "Santa Juana". Jaclyn was the mother of another famous actress, Andi Eigenmann.
