Kyla, a known singer, actress, and TV personality, recently graced the morning show, “Magandang Buhay,” with her presence.

She came to the show with her husband, former basketball star and now coach, Rich Alvarez.

During the interview, the singer admitted that their biggest challenge so far as husband and wife was trying to give their firstborn son, Toby, a sibling.

Unfortunately, Kyla said they have been unsuccessful so far towards that goal, having suffered her fifth miscarriage in December.

“For us 'yung biggest challenge would be giving Toby a sibling. We've been struggling for years and years and years. It's been really hard, especially very recent lang 'yung sa amin eh,” Kyla said.

“Just before Christmas actually I suffered another one. 'Yun 'yung bigest challenge,” she added.

Despite what happened, Kyla is still grateful for everything they have right now.

“But I am also very grateful and thankful kasi at least nabigyan kami ng isa at kung madadagdagan pa, bonus na lang 'yon,” the singer said.

She then surmised that perhaps the Almighty gave her Rich because he’s the one who would love her dearly.

“Kaya siguro siya rin ang ibinigay sa akin ni Lord -- si Rich -- kasi I don't think anyone would love me like the way he loves me or ever will love me. Parang feeling ko mahirap kasi akong mahalin. Siya lang talaga yung magmamahal sa akin ng ganito. So I am just really thankful,” Kyla said.

Kyla, whose real name is Melanie Hernandez Calumpad, is a popular songwriter and R&B singer in the Philippines. She is married to former PBA star Rich Alvarez and they have a son named Toby.

In another previous interview with Ogie Diaz, Kyla wasn't able to stop herself from crying while talking about children. It was in 2018 when she suffered pregnancy loss twice. It can be recalled that she also suffered pregnancy loss in December of 2023. According to Kyla, she would have wanted to have lots of children. Until now, she said that her only prayer is for her only child, Toby, to have a sibling.

During her husband's birthday last year, Kyla The singer took to social media and penned a heartfelt message for her other half. In her message, Kyla expressed gratitude for having Rich in her life. She also gave glimpses of how they celebrated the former basketball player’s birthday.
