Sen. Jinggoy personally went to the Sandiganbayan today for the promulgation of the special court’s decision.
The case stemmed from the 183-million pesos of supposed kickbacks he allegedly got from supposed pet projects in collusion with businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam.
Jose Pimentel Ejercito Jr, more popularly known as Jinggoy Estrada, is a politician, actor, and producer. He served as Vice Mayor of San Juan in 1988 and is currently serving as a senator in the 19th Congress of the Philippines. He is the son of former President Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada.
The legislator hugged the headlines late last year when the case of kasambahay Ate Elvira Vergara took centerstage in a Senate investigation. At the time, Sen. Jinggoy asked the committee to cite Ate Elvira's employer, France Garcia Ruis, in contempt. This happened as the Senate continued to hear the case of Ate Elvi, who was allegedly maltreated. The case of Ate Elvi received national attention and has even reached many celebrities.
Meanwhile, Sen. Jinggoy caught the attention of comedienne Pokwang when the legislator voiced out his thoughts about banning K-Dramas in the Philippines. In a post, the Kapuso star shared that she appreciates the senator’s desire for local artists to succeed. Nonetheless, she does not believe that banning Korean dramas in the country will resolve the issue. She suggested that the Philippine government should take notes from the South Korean government on the way it supports and promote its entertainment industry.
