Joey Paras – a comedian, actor, director, and writer – has passed away at 45, his family announced.

According to his niece Zciara Shyne Sinchon-Fabian's Facebook post, Joey died on Sunday, October 29 at 5:40 pm.

In the heartbreaking announcement, Zciara Shyne underscored that her Tito Joey’s heart “wasn’t able to recover anymore.”

“To all of our family and friends, we are saddened to announce that our Tito Joey Paras passed away and joined our Creator this afternoon, October 29, 2023 at 5:40pm. Unfortunately his heart wasn’t able to recover anymore.”

She also appealed for financial assistance for them to settle Joey’s hospital bills.

“Currently, his remains is still at the hospital’s morgue. We need to settle his hospital bills for us to take him home. Our family is knocking at your kind and generous heart to help us raise a fund to cover his hospital bills.”

Furthermore, the late comedian’s niece said funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

Joey Paras is a Filipino actor, director, singer, writer, producer and host. He became known for his lead role in the movie “Last Supper Number 3.” Joey also starred in the movie “Bekikang: Ang Nanay Kong Beki,” which also starred Tom Rodriguez.

In 2020, KAMI reported that Joey had a severe heart condition that was requiring a heart surgery called angioplasty. He was confined at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig and he needed P750,000 for the said operation. The comedian was even trying to sell his house and lot to raise funds for the expensive surgery.

Aside from Joey, another actor-director also passed away this year. Ricky Rivero, a former "That's Entertainment" member, died on July 16. He was 51. The sudden and unfortunate news was confirmed by his wife via an online post on Facebook.
