John Lloyd Cruz admits challenges of co-parenting; thanks Ellen & Derek

Famous actor John Lloyd Cruz gave an insightful interview on GMA’s ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.’ During the interview, Boy asked John Lloyd about co-parenting his son, Elias Modesto, with the child’s mother, Ellen Adarna.

John Lloyd shared that he does not want to pretend and sugarcoat the situation, admitting that co-parenting is a challenge. He also expressed his gratitude to Ellen and her partner, Derek Ramsay, for being generous in giving him quality time with Elias.

Furthermore, the celebrity dad said that it is important for him as a father not to impose his will on his son, to let the child discover his own dreams, goals, passion, and identity. However, John Lloyd said that he is always there to help and guide his child on the things that he cannot handle yet on his own.

“It’s a little bit of a challenge. Ayokong i-sugarcoat kasi ayokong mag-pretend.

"We’re co-parenting, but depende sa definition ng co-parenting.

“Ako, from my end, to simplify, paano ko ba siya pinapalaki? Siguro yung to live without imposing.

"Gusto ko siyang tanungin and gusto ko siyang mag-develop ng sarili niyang capacity to decide on certain things.

“Siyempre yung mga bagay na hindi pa niya kayang desisyunan, yun ang role namin.

“Sa nakikita ko naman, napakasuwerte ko. Marami diyan, yung similar cases kagaya sa akin, much, much lesser yung time with the child or have a small time sa call.

"Kaya napakasuwerte ko, kaya ako ay nagpapasalamat kay Ellen, kay Derek dahil iniisip nila yung kapakanan ng bata,” John Lloyd told Boy Abunda.

John Lloyd Cruz is considered one of the Philippines' most famous, successful, and talented actors. He has a son named Elias Modesto with his former partner, Ellen Adarna, who is now married to actor Derek Ramsay. Even though John Lloyd and Ellen are no longer together, they have chosen to work together in raising their son Elias, showing their commitment to co-parenting despite their breakup.

Previously, John Lloyd was among the celebrities present at Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez’s wedding last July 31. The actor flew to Bali and attended the couple’s big day with his son, Elias. Lloydie then took a social media and shared a photo of him and Elias at the chapel where Maja and Rambo exchanged “I dos.” The father-son duo’s dashing looks for the special occasion can be seen in the lovely snap.
