Former broadcaster Jay Sonza was finally released from jail after he posted a bail of P270K.

According to Frontline Tonight, the bail was for P260K for estafa, and P10K for libel.

Before the approval of the court for the bail, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 100 has already dismissed the cases of syndicated estafa and large-scale illegal recruitment against Jay.

However, due to the pending estafa and libel cases, he was not immediately released from jail following the dismissal.

It can be recalled that he was temporarily detained by the BI when he made an attempt to board a flight to Hong Kong.

Thereafter, he was turned over to the NBI, and he was subsequently turned over to the QC BJMP.

Jay Sonza, is a Filipino and former broadcaster. He's also a talk show host. He used to work with Mel Tiangco. He is now facing charges of estafa, and also libel.

Ogie Diaz took to Twitter and shared his thoughts on the news about Jay Sonza's arrest. He said that it was sad news for the broadcaster's children and grandchildren. The comedian did not say anything else except for that one-liner comment. Jay was arrested recently allegedly due to illegal recruitment.

It can be recalled Jay was arrested on Tuesday for alleged large-scale illegal recruitment, as per the report of Niko Baua of ABS-CBN. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Asst. Dir. Glenn Ricarte has confirmed the news. As per Ricarte, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) prevented Sonza from leaving the country and was temporarily detained on July 18, 2023. He was initially turned over to the NBI recently, but was already turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
