“I remember the first time I saw you, JM. Mom had chicken pox when she gave birth to you that’s why kuya Jerom and I weren’t able to meet you as soon as possible. But I was there when mom and dad first brought you home,” said Elijah at the beginning of his post.
“You were on the bed sleeping. I was excited but shy. As I laid beside you, I just started to be mesmerized. Kuya na ako. Ayaw kong mainitan ka so I turned the fan up. That accidentally woke you up but you didn’t really cry yet,” he added.

“You really are the best of all of us. I’ve been struggling to write ‘cause I don’t think anything will be enough to honor you. I always thought you deserved the best. That you deserved the world. But I realized that you are far too beautiful for this world, JM. We do not deserve you. This world does not deserve you,” he further wrote.
“I want to thank you for so many more things. I am no one without you. Walang hanggang pasasalamat para sa lahat lahat,” the actor and older brother of JM said.
“I’ll see you later, JM. I love you more than anything. Mahal na mahal ka namin. Mahal na mahal ka ni kuya. Mahal na mahal na mahal na mahal! Habang buhay. Habambuhay,” Elijah concluded.

Among the first ones who broke the news about JM's death was their older brother Jerom Canlas, who announced heartbreaking news in a social media post on Thursday, August 3. No specific cause of death was given but Jerom revealed, “In his adolescence, JM struggled with his mental health.” The wake for family and friends will begin tonight, August 4, at the St. Peter Chapel in Quezon Avenue.

In the case of Elijah, he was unable to hide his tears as he gave an emotional eulogy in the wake of his brother, JM Canlas.
